Information Systems for Decision Making and Digital Transition
The research group aims to advance knowledge and understanding in the field of Information Systems, mainly focusing on decision-making processes and digital transformation. Through empirical and applied research, its researchers seek to develop cutting-edge methodologies, models, and technologies to address challenges and opportunities in today's rapidly evolving digital landscape. The primary goal is to contribute to the well-being of society by fostering innovation and facilitating informed decision-making in various domains without forsaking cybersecurity, personal data protection issues and the development of the economy. The ISDMDT RG research agenda will be structured around several issues, many of which will be the focus of ongoing projects. Within the scope of a Partnership with a Public Institution, the ULSM project is being conducted to develop and apply a cost calculation model for the Radiology/Neuroradiology Department of the “Unidade Local de Saúde de Matosinhos” that will help in processes and resources management and will facilitate the implementation of the Integrated Responsibility Centre model in the complementary means of diagnosis and therapy department. Among the projects planned for the referred period, we highlight two projects submitted to the 2024 FCT call for R&D projects in all scientific fields: “Desafios da inteligência artificial nos processos de ensino aprendizagem: avaliação da maturidade das IES”, which propose to develop a maturity model to assess to use of digital technologies and AI in the learning process, systematise risks and propose mitigation measure. The “Quality_MCQ – Analysis of the Quality of Multiple-Choice Items in Question Banks to Improve Learners' Assessment in Higher Education” aims to create an open-source Moodle Plug-in software that allows implementing IRT and CTT in randomly generated tests from a bank of questions, perform classification and a deep analysis of the quality of questions.
